Kudos To BMTC

We all know that the public transport system in Bangalore has always left a lot to be desired.

However over the last few months BMTC has made incredible progress and is coming up with smart and innovative ideas to provide greater value to commuters.

The BMTC's initiative of plying Volvo buses has taken off remarkably well.

The buses are super comfortable. The routes covered and the frequency are poised to increase in the coming months.
For more info on the covered routes and times, click here.

Click here to have a look at BMTC's upcoming plans.

You could get complete information on all BMTC bus routes/timings here

Do express your views/suggestions. We will 'try' to put forth feasible solutions to the concerned officials :)

The government can have 6000 red(present type)volvo buses instead of spending Rs. 6000 crores for 2 metro rails . The Government can have renault LOGAN sedan cars(green colour which they are available few),green toyota INNOVA and green VOLVO buses(of present type of red bmtc volvo)for transport to the Bengaluru international airport .. i.e.; people can easily identify airport transport vehicles..Then, I am sure bangalore and the airport will get a great reputation in the world for standard facilities..

Can someone using 335E route help me with exact boarding point on Residency Road? Does it go through bus stop in front of Chancery Pavilion?

Also, can someone can help with information on frequency of bus around 6pm?

I live in basaveshwaranagar, and drive to work everyday near cantonment. There are no volvos running on this route. I would love to take the volvo to work if there was a volvo route, as driving can be very stressful at times!

The present system of public transport by BMTC is a joke. The normal buses are packed to twice their capacity due to insufficient frequency during peak hours.

Volvo is a viable alternative. The current set of routes for Volvo buses needs to be enchanced to routes where people require the services and most importantly the timings have to be extended to cover late nights (atleast till 10:00 pm) which is when people would require the services and also would be willing to pay a premium for the Volvo bus service.

I switched to using public transport about 6 months ago and I don't regret it one bit. It takes a bit of planning and discipline. But then the effort is well worth it. No driving stress, no big fuel bills and the best part one less car on the already clogged roads of Bangalore.

BMTCs Volvo service is excellent. I do hope they extend this service to cover a larger part of Bangalore. With a bit of help from us (read car users) I'm sure we can de-clog this city and we won't need the so called 16 lane roads.

Have to agree the public transport system has improved a lot but i must say the connectivity has to be improved for example if i have to travel to Bannergahta road from ols Airport road or HAL their are no direct buses, atleast not to my knowledge.

Would prefer lots of volvos(Vajras) am sure many who uses cars will switch to volvs

HI,
There are no Direct buses from Bhysham circle ( Rajajinagar) to EGL campus ( Off Indranagar-Kormangala Intermediate Ring Road). EGL campus has most of the MNCs like, IBM, sasken, netapp, solitare, dell, yahoo, Samsung, Huawai. I think BMTC should concentrate on these IT Hotspots first ( as most of them commute singly in CAR :( ). I have started using public transport recently (3 months). and need to change 4 buses to reach EGL campus. and i see many who commute in the same path. Hoping that BMTC will hear to me.

BMTC has recently offered the 3 months discounted pass for commuters on Vajra Volvos. A good deal for folks like me who travel 22 kms each way.

Now, they also insist that you get a BMTC issued ID card which takes Rs 100 and a visit to the BMTC pass office in Kempegowda Bus Station. Can BMTC amend their rules to allow any other government issued ID card (Passport, Drivers License etc)?

I agree BMTC has improved a lot interms of hike in bus fares, misbehaviour with the coomuters but not in improving services.

the drivers and conductors are so arrogant. the best example is everyday there is a jam in/near Majestic busstand. But no traffic controller seems to be there. its so pathetic that they dont even respect public.

May be the higher authorities are concentrating more on incresing fares rather than providing congetion free areas.

Now can anybody say kudos to BMTC !!

Last one month I have started using the Airport buses instead of car. My office is in Indiranagar and my house is near Columbia Asia Hospital Hebbal.

I have decided will not take the car anymore to office, when you have such a good transport system why should we use the car for single use. It's a real national waste using the car.
