This Rocks.

Suggestions : Hookup Google Earth / Maps to this. Will help chart the route.

Thanks Sudhir,
I am currently setting up a map wherein a user can select the route he will be commuting by instead of having to select the places manually. Thanks for the suggestion, will see if i can ingtegrate google maps too.

Hi,
The website looks cool and easy to use. Designed very well. Please provide an option of having a flexible timing on a per day basis.

HI Santosh,
Am really glad you found the usability simple. That was one of our important goals. We do intend to provide the flexibility on a daily basis. but we need to build a larger user base for it to really provide value to you. We will definitely have this feature in mind as the user base increases

Very nice concept. Wish you the best in taking this initiative to greater heights :)

great idea guys, hope it works out

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. The response has been great so far. Just keep up the good word of spreading the buzz and am sure we will be able to ease out the traffic in Banaglore

Good initiative, Vishal & hope it stays alive.
The key issue is to raise awareness amongst the public. It might also help if you can leverage useful ideas to make it a success from other widely adopted sites such as http://rideshare.511.org/ etc. I'm sure there are many other such sites you might want to refer. Keep up the good work.

P.S: Why limit the the the site just Bangaloreans?

Thank you Mr Nag,
I agree with you that public awareness is a key for the success of this cause.
I am trying to build this on the strength of word of mouth initially and then move on to other media like Fm and newspapers when there is a decent user base.Over the last 2 days there have been over 500 vistors with over 200 registrations which is a bright sign:)
I will definitely have a look at the sites you have mentioned. Thank you for your interest.

Why Bangalore? Firstly I love this city:) and secondly I beleive that if Banagloreans come together through this initiative we can help alleviate the problem of crumbling infrastructure which is proving to be the biggest hurdle in Bangalore's further development.

However we wish to extend this to cities like pune, hyderabad.

Vipul.

I'm so grateful to you (vipul) and everyone else involved in starting this.

One doubt.. can users choose different pools for morning and evening? hmm.. i need to go chk again if that's the case. Maybe it can be stated clearly?

Oh also.. pooling etiquette needs to be a MAIN tab not a bottom link :)

Anonymous said...

Those are really valuable suggestions. Will implement them tonight. Yeah you can infact have diffrent pools for morning and evening. YOu need to do a search with return time not particular for mornig ride. contact a potential match and perform a search with begin time not particular and conatct a potential match. Hope that clarifies. I think i should make it more explicit in the app.
Thanks a lot

HI Vikash,
We do plan to extend it to other cities too. Will explore your suggestion of wikimapia. havent looked into it yet.
And yeah, there is bike pooling already offered at commuteeasy :)
Thanks for your suggestions,
Vipul

cool stuff. am waiting for a pool in my region to be created.

Anonymous said...

Hey . great idea.. but how do I remove a pool that I have created. i had unknowinly selected a car pool instead of a bike.!!

Anonymous said...

To anonymous,
Thanks. lets hope that pool starts soon. but meanwhile you can search for route sharers and if you find one, you can register your own pool :)

Hi vengu,
Thanks for the feedback. I will try to put up the feature to remove a pool.
Please have a look at the my pools screen in a couple of days

Vipul

I feel the need for pooling when going to cinemas, concerts in palace grounds, forum etc more than my work (Because I am very close to work). Ideally, I just wanna be able to login and see if anyone is going in my direction at the point in time. But I am not sure what will motivate people to let the world know they are going from point A to B. SMS maybe?

Anonymous said...

I do understand your concern shivku. Its a little complicated to implement this functionality though.
We are looking into how we can make this as practival as possible and are explporing various mechanisms. sms is definitely one of them. Will let you know of the plan soon.

hai all

it will be a great hit in the bangalore city
but anyway make sure the safety of each passengers

i wish all the best for the success

Hi Vipul,

Congratulations!! This is a great idea. But care shall be taken to keep the criminals off from this pooling. Else, this can be potentially dangerous as the travel plan (Route, Time, etc.) of each and every pooled commuter is open to anybody and everybody.

dude... You've started something every Bangalorean just dreams and talks about. I've just stopped working since morning and have been spreading the word around :D. I hope this helps decongest B'lore man. Congrats!! *Hug*

Dear Vipul,

This is a superb idea, and i appreciate the job and take the opportunity to be a part of your pooling. All the very best., and the site is very nicely created., but dude let the type of pooling be mentioned such as pooling via car or via 2 wheeler or whatever.

Hi!!
I think this idea of Car Pooling is 'simply superb'.... but you dont facilitate people outside bangalore region.
If someone starts a route in Noida-Gurgaon-Delhi region...it would be more than appreciated.
Thanx!!

To s.m puttabuddhi,
Sir we understand your concern. We have put in disclaimers saying that we do not make any claims about genuinity of the members. It is upto the member to take sufficient care in deciding who he/she pools with. That said we are looking at how we can try to validate the identity of our members

To Rahul,
Thanks a lot rahul, your effort in spreading teh word seems to be paying off. It is generating a lot of interest now. Keep up the great work. awesome stuff :)

To Mr S. Gupta,

Thank you for your support. Infact there is a way of specifying the pooling mode when a pool is registered or when a pool search is made. The reason it is not part of teh registration process is that people might want flexibility with the mode of transport. But we are open to suggestions

To anonymous,
Sir we are planning on moving to pune in the immediate future. If you believe there is potential for this service in Delhi we can extnd it there too.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions and support

enigma:

seems like a good idea. will do that today

anonymous:

will consider that seriously if you believe it will work in delhi. will take a lil while though(maybe a month)

hi i think the car-pooling idea is brilliant... i have registered on the site.
But a lot of people are not aware of it... so each of us should do our bit to promote it... n make it work.

Hi guys..
It would be really great if you could leave your name while posting comments, and also a contact mail Id if possible,
This is not a compulsion though :)
